🌍 Waste-to-Energy: A Milestone in Our Journey Towards Zero Waste

At Beeah, we are proud to be the first company in the MENA region to establish a Waste-to-Energy (WTE) facility.

But let us be clear: WTE is not the first step — it is the last.

Too often, countries adopt WTE as a shortcut, burning all their waste for power. This overlooks a critical truth: waste is gold. Every material that can be reused, recycled, or repurposed must first be extracted. Only what cannot be recovered should go to Waste-to-Energy.

In Sharjah, we have adopted this philosophy as part of our Zero Waste to Landfill strategy. Through innovation, efficiency, and responsibility, we ensure that every fraction of waste is put to use — and only the residuals are sent to our WTE plant in Sajaa.

Building a project like this requires coordination across many stakeholders: municipalities, power companies, regulators, and financiers. From gate fees to power purchase agreements, every element must be aligned to make the project bankable and sustainable.

I am honored to have been part of this journey since we established Emirates Waste to Energy, and to serve as a board member of a company with the ambition to support governments and communities in shaping a more sustainable future.

♻️ Waste is not the end of the story — it is the beginning of opportunity
